The working condition of KDP for concentrated sulfuric acid cooling

This is the working condition of KDP for concentrated sulfuric acid cooling. The required scenario of this working condition: 98% concentrated sulfuric acid in a chemical plant is cooled from 80℃ to 40℃. Process parameters: sulfuric acid flow rate: 10 m³/h, cooling water flow rate: 15 m³/h. Design pressure: 6 bar (welding side pressure resistance ≥10 bar). The plate we chose is Hastelloy C276, which must be corrosion-resistant. The rubber pad material is EPDM (weak acid resistant).


Summary

  • In concentrated sulfuric acid heat exchange, the core of the semi-welded plate heat exchanger is:

  • Full welding on the process side (sulfuric acid) + removable cooling side.

  • The preferred material is Hastelloy/tantalum (high budget) or high silicon stainless steel (low temperature concentrated sulfuric acid).

  • Typical applications: sulfuric acid cooling, dilution, waste acid waste heat recovery, etc.

  • Through reasonable design and material selection, safety, corrosion resistance and economy can be taken into account.
